The Preschool offers a mixed age program for children ages 3‑6 years old. Families may choose from three, four or five day programs from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Parents may opt for a "Co‑op model," wherein the parent works in the classroom on a weekly or near-weekly basis, or a "Preschool model" which does not require a parent's weekly classroom presence. There are a limited number of preschool model spaces available.  Application Process for New Families
1. Attend an open house:
1st Saturday in February and March, 10 AM-12 noon (2012: February 4 & March 3) Children welcome. You'll see our inviting space, and learn about the preschool from current families and our teacher. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to sign up for the classroom visit, which is a chance for you to observe the preschool in session. 2. Classroom visit: To reduce disruption of our daily rhythm, we ask that this event be for adults (and babes in arms) only. Please sign up for the classroom visit at the open house.
3. Application: Due: at classroom visit or no later than March 10 Fee: $50 4. Family interview: Each family will meet with our teacher individually for about 20 minutes. Notification by late March. Confirm your spot by submitting deposit, equal to one month's tuition.
Criteria Mount Baker Preschool seeks a balance of age, gender, and a good fit with the school philosophy and co-op model. In general, applicants must have their third birthday by August 31st. Children whose birthdays fall between September 1st and October 31st will be considered at the discretion of the Teacher and the Board. Applicants from diverse cultural heritage are particularly encouraged to apply. The preschool strives to reflect the diverse racial composition of the Mt. Baker area. |
